Ok I don't like being PMed and told I don't know what I'm talking about. Here's a link that will show I'm not full of it about that word's second meaning.

click

Second: another PM was recently sent to me from QL saying she can't mod. on the day I'm going to be at the con., so for a one day replacement ... Graylady since your in here daily would you like to be a mod. for a day?

Thrid: as HP pointed out in another topic some topics can get derailed. This topic needs to get back on track. After I go to the con. I'm planning on posting as detailed a report on it as I can with pictures to boot.

Erin,

I never even knew there was a word like that one.

Second, it would be an honor to be a 1 day moderator. [ok]

And last but not least. Get some great pics and have a wonderful time.

It was a wonderful event that made you proud to be a geek, but since it's 1am it's probably not a good idea for me to make a long post on it. But I will be giving a detailed report as soon as I can, plus I think you guys would like to see the pictures developed first. On note to that some thing I did early into the day I think will make revans2491 really happy. :thumbleft:

I'm having a photo CD made right now and the report will be tonight. But in the mean time here's a song I got on paper at the event ...

Banned from Argo
Words and Music: Leslie Fish
From The Westerfilk Collection,
Volume One Copyright 1980 by Jordin Kare.

When we pulled into Argo port in need
of R. and R.,
The crew set out investigating every
joint and bar.
We had high expectations of their
hospitality,
But found too late it wasn't geared for
spacers such as we.

Chorus: And we're banned from Argo,
every one.
(Yes, we're) Banned from Argo just for
having a little fun.
We spend a jolly shore leave there for
just three days or four,
But Argo doesn't want us anymore.

The Captain's tastes are simple, but his
methods are complex.
We found him with five partners, each of
different world and s*x.
The Shore Police were on their way--we
had no second chance.
We beamed him up in the nick of time--
and the remnants of his pants.

{Chorus}

Our Engineer would yield to none at
putting down the brew.
He outdrank seven space marines and a
demolition crew.
The Navigator didn't win, but he
outdrank almost all,
And now they've got a shuttlecraft on the
roof of City Hall.

{Chorus}

Our proper, cool First Officer was
drugged with something green,
And hauled into an alley where he
suffered things obscene.
He sobered up in sickbay and he's none
the worse for wear.
Except he's somehow taught the bridge
computer how to swear.

{Chorus}

The Head Nurse disappeared awhile in
the major Dope Bazaar,
Buying an odd green potion "guaranteed
to cause Pon-Farr"
She came home with no uniform and an
oddly cheerful heart,
And a painful way of walking--with her
feet a yard apart.

{Chorus}

Our lady of communication won a ship-
wide bet
By getting into the planet's main
communications net.
Now every time someone calls up on an
Argo telescreen.
The flesh is there, but the clothes they
wear are nowhere to be seen.

{Chorus}

The Doctor loves Humanity; his private
life is quiet.
The Shore Police arrested him for
inciting who*es to riot.
We found him in the city jail, locked in
and beamed him free--
Intact except for hickeys and six kinds of
V.D.

{Chorus}

Our Helmsman loves exotic plants;the
plants all love him too.
He took some down on leave with him,
and we wondered what they'd do.
'Til the planetary governor called and
swore upon his life
That a gang of plants entwined his house
and then seduced his wife!

{Chorus}

A gang of pirates landed, and nobody
seemed to care.
They stamped into the nearest bar to
announce that they were there.
Half our crew was busy there, and
invited them to play,
But the pirates only looked at us, and
turned and ran away.

{Chorus}

Our crew is Starfleet's finest, and our
record is our pride.
And when we play we tend to leave a
trail a mile wide.
We're sorry about the wreckage and the
riots and the fuss;
At least we're sure that planet won't be
quick forgetting us!

{Chorus}

Chorus:And we're banned from Argo,
every one.
(Yes, we're) Banned form Argo just for
having a little fun.
We spent a jolly shore leave there for
just three days or four,
But Argo doesn't want us anymore.

Wonder Why?

I made it to StarFest I think around just before 9:30am and the first thing that caught my eye was a van with a Night at the Museum add painted on a whole side of it, with a T-Rex on a flat behind it. Later on there were pictures taken in front of the Rex around late 9am and 10am.

After entering the hotel I quickly got my ribbon-tag and goodies bag & asked where to put my art projects for a gallery show which I later learned was also being used for an art contest & auction. One of my pieces got an honorable mention.

There was a large area for many little setups used for groups. This area was also in use for some of the con.s events. Here's the second pic I took at the con.

Now from one of the staff I heard no body could take pictures during any of the main events which isn't true. But due to believing this most of the day I decided to take certain pic.s really early on. Some of these I took doubles of. When taking Gil Gerard's picture I explained to him how Rebecca knew about this, how it was for his official website and he didn't seem to mind posing for my camera in the least. Afterwords he asked what my name was, I told him and we shook hands.

I have to make another post now due to the forum won't let me load another picture into this post.

There's another pic that I took just after the T-Rex one that I forgot about last night and here it is.

There were many people wearing costumes for this and that fact made me feel a bit left out considering the fact I love dressing up for Halloween just to get a reaction out of people. ... I'm going to be dressing up for StarFest next year. Every year for Halloween for the past few years I've been dressing up as a griffin. So when that next StarFest rolls around I'm going to give my feather whig a new use & dress up as Koori. These are some people who dressed up. There were lots of amazing costumes, wish I could have taken pictures of all of them. ... I haven't seen the Dark Crystal since the 80's, but one person dressed as some creature, "rider" some thing. I think my mouth dropped open at seeing this costume. The man ... I think since I never saw the face. The man was on stilts and crutches, no way could this person have walked into the hotel wearing this. I asked a person who was with the one wearing the Dark Crystal costume, yes the person did fall in it a few times. I'm going to have to find a Dark Crystal website with a picture of this thing he dressed as for you guys to get this sight. Also another costume well worth bring up is one person dressed in an Alien one, and I mean from the Alien movie series when I say that. This costume was so impressive it should be used by Hollywood for film promotion. Odd fact: I hear it didn't win the costume contest being held by the con. .

There was a place for shopping with numerous vendors and also in the same area authors were doing book signings if you purchased their work. ... I found out I'm related to one of the authors that was at this. We got into a talk about both of us having Scottish blood and she said her Chan name before I opened my month about the ones in my family.
Julia Phillips, the author of: Miranda Queen of Argyll Past Sins. Is a member of Chan Gunn. Chan "Gunn" is a family name that comes out of my mom's side of the family.
Bought a few things in this main shopping area, one of which makes me feel I really did the right thing by setting up an area of this forum for old video format, ... among the things I got one of them was a LaserDisc. One of the vendors had two boxes filled with them. Another thing I'll bring up from this is a shirt which reads "Tardis Tours: We show you how your vacation will end before it even begins!"

Now the whole time this event was going on I was wearing a 26th Century shirt with ( told you guys I would :salute: ) the websites on the back, including SciFiUnited, plus a NASA ball cap that went about the Titan IV. I met two people at this that were involved with that. They worked on the Titan IV project! Had a good long talk with both but during mid-day of this event a fire alarm went off and it was every body out of the building. ... I think this was one of the few places you could ever joke "Red Alert, Red Alert!" and people would get a good laugh.

I need to take a break right now but I'll still be posting more on this event later. :cool:
